Will the Lock-down be extended further in India?

PM Modi announced a three-week lock-down in India to contain the spread of Corona Virus. Has it been not implemented, the virus could have made the country in worse condition. The outbreak of Corona Virus has resulted in deaths of many around the world. The only solution apart from staying at home is, to invent the vaccines for it. However, no country as of now is successful in getting to the nerve of COVID-19. Every country is struggling to keep themselves afloat with all the precaution provided by World Health Organizations. Probably the only solution we have is, to stay at home as much as we can.

We are into second last week of the Lock-down and now the most debatable question surfing in the air is, whether or not the lock-down will be extended. The hot topic is up for a toss on Social media and on news channels. Everyone has their own version to justify their opinion and thought. The recent rise of corona hit patients have gone up significantly as a result, Telangana has locked their state till June 3rd 2020. This spills a serious question to give a thought, will the lock-down be extended further in India. In reply, few government officials have said the lock-down may not be extended as India has successfully eliminated high number corona patient that was expected before.

Whether you opt for yes, the lock-down should be extended or no, the lock-down should not be extended further. Both has its own challenges to deal with. While many experts believe that, a country of 1.3 billion people, the risk factor is not yet over. So, the lock-down should continue for the entire month probably and if possible, even further. Certainly, locking down a country for longer period of time will ensure the safety but the problem lies here is, will India be able to absorb longer lock-down? What will happen to the economy, how bad it can get? How the poor will get his meal if they don’t work? The daily wager is suffering the most due to this lock-down. They are unable to earn for their livelihood.

It is believed that, the government might not continue the lock-down for the entire country, rather they will continue the lock-down in few cities including metro-cities. A decision which has both victory and defeat. The lock-down does not come easy, as various source of income to the government has been shut for long. It will be interesting to see what BJP-led government decides to go with. Whether the extension is on card or Modi government is satisfied enough to uplift the lock-down on the given date.
