Audience call Filmfare Awards a Fakefare Awards

The 65th Filmfare Awards was held at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati, Assam on February 15.
It was Gully Boy, Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt who took all the attention of the night. Gully Boy has created the Filmfare history of winning the most number of awards in a year by winning a total of 13 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, and Best Actress.

Though there was public voting for nominations on the Filmfare website, the netizens slammed the organisers for their “biased selection” of winners on the internet. At 3’o clock on Monday, there are more than 5000 tweets showcasing #BoycottFilmfare on Twitter.

In the netizens opinion, the film Gully Boy was good but did not deserve 13 awards. Also, Ananya Panday received the Best Debut Actress award for Student of the Year 2 and Pati Patni Aur Who, which was again criticized by the internet users.

Several people were not happy as Akshay Kumar’s Kesari and Hrithik Roshan’s Super 30 did not win a single trophy.  Some said that Teri Mitti from Kesari deserved to win the Best Lyrics award as opposed to Apna Time Aayega from Gully Boy. The Lyricist Manoj Muntashir, who wrote the lyrics of Teri Mitti, was disappointed as his song did not win the Best Lyrics award and said that he will not attend award shows in the future. Many people believe that Kesari, Super 30, Mission Mangal and Chhichhore are much more deserving movies for Best Film Filmfare Award.
