National Girl Child Day celebrated throughout the country on January 24, every year. The goal is to give the country’s girls maximum support and facilities in all respects.
The day started since 2008 by the Ministry of Women and Child Development and goals to raise awareness on the concerns faced by girls in the country.
The main objective of this to raise awareness about discrimination against the girls, to talk about numerous atrocities and dissimilarities that girls face in their day to day life and to increase consciousness about the importance of girl education, nourishment, and healthiness.
Government-initiated initiatives such as ‘ Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao ‘ are very relevant as they discuss important issues such as preventing inhumane female foeticide practices, and acknowledging and fighting for the right of a girl to education.
Twitterati also salutes the girl child and trends the twitter with the hashtag – #BetiPadhaoBetiBachao and #NationalGirlChildDay2020 .
