Justice was finally delivered to Nirbhaya: All 4 convicts hanged

The 4 men convicted of the crime of horrific rape and murder of Nirbhaya case, were hanged early this morning. Finally, after 7 years, justice has prevailed to the 23-year-old medical student who was the gang-raped and murdered in Delhi in December 2012. One of the convicts requested a review of the death penalty, but the Supreme Court had rejected the plea in the late midnight hearing.

The four men – Pawan Gupta, Akshay Kumar Singh, Mukesh Singh, and Vinay Sharma were hanged at 5:30 am in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. All four criminals were convicted for gang-raping and murdering a medical student girl, known as Nirbhaya, in a bus in Delhi in December 2012. Later Nirbhaya died of her injuries in the hospital.

After the hanging, the convicts’ bodies were sent for post-mortem inspection, following which the body will be handed over to the individual families. According to officials– “The convicts had not expressed any last wish or will to authorities,”


Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his tweet stated that justice has prevailed after four men convicted of the gang rape and murder of a Delhi woman, were hanged on Friday. He also added that our Nari Shakti has excelled in every field and together we have to build a nation where the focus is on women empowerment, on equality and opportunity.

Former cricketer and BJP MP Gautam Gambhir stated that “Hanged till death! Finally! I know we are late Nirbhaya”.



After the convicts were hanged at Delhi’s Tihar Jail, the victim’s mother, said-“Finally they have been hanged, it was a long struggle. Finally, we got justice; this day is dedicated to the daughters of the country. I thank the judiciary and government.”
