Google Doodle series thanks frontline workers of COVID-19

Over 18 lakh people around the world have been diagnosed with the coronavirus epidemic and doctors, healthcare workers, hospital staff and researchers in the scientific community at the forefront of the pandemic have gone above and beyond the task of providing patient care.
And remembering this heroic act, Google’s last Google Doodle last week was a basic but touching ode to healthcare workers across the globe who work tirelessly on the frontlines to combat COVID-19. So the organization is now continuing this recognition of all coronavirus helpers for the next two weeks with a series of Google Doodles.

The series coincides with United States National Public Health Week. In a statement on their website, Google wrote, “This week, we’re beginning a series of Doodles to recognize the many people responding to COVID-19 — from doctors and nurses caring for people on the front lines to teachers and food service workers ensuring essential goods and services are still available.”

Earlier, on April 6, Google CEO Sundar Pichai declared Google is releasing a series of doodles to commemorate the frontline heroes battling the coronavirus.
He tweeted:

The animated doodle demonstrates a heart emoji that is being sent to all health workers. The doodle is a search giant part of a series to honor those who work on the frontlines and fight the pandemic.

The series’ aim is to assist ‘coronavirus helpers’ such as physicians, teachers, scientists, social workers, and others who ensure vital medicines and services are provided.

The quirky doodle series is just one of the many ways Google is highlighting the impacts of the virus, which has infected more than 550,000 Americans as of Monday morning. Along with the sketches and letters of thanks to the important staff, the tech company promised $800 million donations to support small businesses impacted by a coronavirus in March.

This isn’t the first time Google has published a series of doodles. Previously, the Doodles show has included sporting events that go on over several weeks, including the Olympics, World Cups, and holidays and festivities such as Christmas and New Year.
