The Statue of Unity has beat the footfall of Statue of Liberty in the US, with an average of over 15k visitors visiting the monument in Gujarat daily.
Statue of Unity, it is built as a tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s known as the ‘“Iron Man of India”.

With a height of 182 meters, the Statue of Unity is the world’s tallest statue and it is a symbol of the country’s unity and integrity. It has been a magnet for visitors with its laser show and museum. You can also take a view of the Statue of Unity from a helicopter.

According to the sources “With a rise of 74 percent over the first year’s daily average, i.e., from 1 November 2018 to 31 October 2019, the daily average of 15,036 is now reported in the first month of this second year.

“This has increased on weekend days to 22,430. New York’s Statue of Liberty, USA, attracts about 10,000 visitors a day!” said a statement from Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Ltd.

A total of 30,90,723 tourists visited Kevadia, generating a total income of Rs 85,57 Crores until 30 November this year.

Some of the Interesting facts about Sardar Patel’s Statue of Unity –

1. The base of the statue of unity have three floors – the exhibit floor, mezzanine, and the roof.

2. The statue covers an area of 20,000 square metres and is surrounded by a 12 square kilometre artificial lake.

3. The height of 182 metres was precisely selected to match the number of seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly.

4. Over 3,000 workers, including 300 engineers from Larsen & Toubro (L&T), built the statue within three-and-a-half years.

5. The statue will be able to endure earthquakes and wind speed up to around 100 km per second.
