The Gift To The World Of Cinema: Irrfan Khan’s 12 International Films

The sudden demise of the legendary actor Irrfan Khan has left the country in shock. He was loved not only in India but all around the world. The actor was a successful star in Hollywood as well. Irfan had made a global impact, something India is very proud of. To date, very few Indian actors have achieved this.

1. A Mighty Heart

Screened at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival, this film featured Angelina Jolie as the main star where she played the columnist Mariana Pearl who was kidnaped in Pakistan. Irrfan did a great job as the Karachi Police Chief.

2. Life Of Pi

A worldwide loved film, Life of Pi, was a super hit. It has one of Irfan’s best performances. Life of Pi was nominated for the Golden Globe and Academy Award. Irfan played the role of adult Pi in the movie.

3. The Namesake

The movie Namesake is based on the novel written by Jhumpa Lahiri, with the same name. The movie stars Tabu, Kal Penn, and Sahira Nair.

4. New York, I Love You

 An American Rom-Com, “ New York, I love you”, is a movie of 11  short stories. The actor, Irfan Khan was in the story that was directed by Mira Nair and was starred against Natalie Portman.

5. Hiss

Malika Sherawat as the protagonist and Irfan as inspector Vikram Gupta, Hiss is an adventure Indian horror film but was directed by an American film director Jennifer Chambers Lynch.

6. Slumdog Millionaire

A British crime drama film, this movie was a huge success of the year 2008. Directed by Danny Boyle, this movie was an Academy Award-winning film. Here Irfan played the role of Police Inspector.

7.The Amazing Spider-Man

At first, due to the short duration of the role, Irfan was hesitant to take the role of Rajit Ratha. But later was convinced by his sons to become the part of this superhero film franchise.

8.The Song of Scorpions

A Swiss-French-Singaporean film, in the Hindi language, has Song of Scorpions stars Golshifteh Farahan as the protagonist. She is learning the art of healing in the movie and fall in love with the star,  Irfan Khan, a camel leader.

9. Jurassic World

In the fourth part of the Jurassic Park film series, Irrfan Khan played the role of Simon Masrani, who is the owner of the Jurassic World.

10. Puzzle

Premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 20018, Puzzle is a movie about a mother. She is a ‘stay – at –  home’ woman and enters a puzzle-solving competition. Irrfan Khan was starred as Robert, who is the lead’s puzzle partner and her love interest.

11. Inferno

The final series Robert Langdon “Inferno” has Irfan Khan in the role of Harry Sims, who is the head of The Consortium. It was directed by Ron Howard.

 

12. Tokyo Trial

A four-part historical drama that depicts the International Military Tribunal for the Far East is a Japanese mini-series. Here,  Irrfan Khan played the role of Radhabinod Pal. This series is also available on Netflix.
