Remote work has been on the rise for years in several businesses. Some provide remote work as a reward to workers for better work-life balance. And today, millions of employees around the globe have recently started working from home (WFH) because of the Coronavirus outbreak.

Work From Home is awesome but for some, it may seem like new freedom, but along with it comes responsibility or liability as well.

To help with the change into this new way of working, here are some useful tips:

Build a Permanent Work Space

Seek to find a quiet and convenient place to work where you can associate with your job and leave when you’re off the clock — where means getting off the sofa, and probably going out of bed.

Set Real Work Hours

The advantage of working from home is you can schedule your working hours flexibly.
Using your deep focus to zoom in on your assignments. Keep on reading to see how to efficiently plan your time.
At the end of the day impose a hard cap. Distance from the job, so you’re not working nonstop.

Discover Your High Productivity Periods

Find out when you are most productive and design your work schedule around your times of peak productivity.

At different times of the day, each person is the most successful. For instance, some people are people in the morning, and they are most efficient and concentrated during the morning hours. For others, the evenings are their most active time in the workday.

Make To-Do Lists

Start your day by determining the day’s goals. Stick to that as you make your task list. Only jump into your email is tempting, but with a little extra concentration, you can push the needle from home when you are working.

Set goals and time limits for each task. Once you complete each task, cross it off the list. This basic technique is both efficient and accomplishable.

Exercise & Stretch Regularly

Exercise naturally stimulates endorphins, which enhances levels of satisfaction, pleasure, and motivation that are all important to productivity.

Stretching frequently helps you maintain a healthy stance. As a minimum, extend the entire day so that you don’t get tired or hamper your quality of life.

We recommend exercising in the morning because there are fewer complaints and better payouts all day long.

Eat Healthy Lunch & Snacks

The best part of WFH is that we have full access to the kitchen. So, when it’s time for lunch or a snack break, we are immediately drawn to the usual snacks, such as chips, cookies, or leftover pizza.

Take Short  Breaks

WFH can be lonely, so take some tea or coffee breaks and keep talking to people so you do not feel isolated.
Or come out to your balconies or roof and enjoy nature for some time.

Use Video Chat

Working from home can get pretty lonely, especially if you are single or live alone but you can’t help because of the situation.

Make it a point to chat with colleagues, team members.
There are many video chat applications available today, such as:

  • Skype
  • WhatsApp
  • Zoom

Depending on the nature of your work, you could end up spending almost all of your day on video conferences chatting with your team. We recommend working in a well-lit room as it brings out your best features.

Listen to Music

Depending on the nature of your work, it helps to turn on some background music. Spotify is a great streaming service that lets you pick moods for focus and productivity. Since you’re working at home, you don’t want it too loud or distracting — ensure you can quickly mute it to take a business call.

It’s an extremely unstable time for most of us. Take care of yourself and others, and remember to wash your hands!
