On this Day Sachin Tendulkar scored first ever Double Century in the ODI’s

February 24th: On this day, Sachin Tendulkar became the first man on earth to score a double century in the ODI format. He achieved the feat against the mighty South African team and guided India to a series victory with a game left. Tendulkar batted throughout 50 overs, reached the landmark in the last over off 147 deliveries including 25 fours and 3 sixes. His innings also helped team India to amass a mammoth score of 401/3. In reply, South Africa were all out for 248 in the 43rd over itself despite a fighting unbeaten century by My 360, AB de Villiers. India won the match by 153 runs all thanks to Sachin’s aggressive batting.

Regarded as the greatest batsman of all time, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar is also the highest run scorer in International cricket. He even holds the record for the most century (100) by a player in the all formats combined. The little master also holds the record of playing the most number of ODIs (463) and Tests (200) by any batsmen ever.

After Sachin made double century, few more players got the rare feat after him including Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill and Virender Sehwag. Rohit Sharma leads the list with three double centuries (264, 209, 208) who also holds the highest individual score in ODI’s, followed by Chris Gayle (215) Virender Sehwag (219) and Martin Guptill (237*).
