A 90-year-old Japanese grandma Hamako Mori folds her fingers to hold them nimble everyday. Not for
knitting or needlepoint, just to keep in shape to play video games.
She’s also known as the “Gamer Grandma” and spends at least three to four hours a day while playing her favorite games and not only this, she has her own YouTube channel for her fans in 2014. She also holds a Guinness world record certifying her as the world’s oldest gaming YouTuber.
About Hamako Mori
Mori, who lives with her family in Chiba, south-east Tokyo, holds a Guinness World Record certifying her to be the world’s oldest gaming YouTuber.
Mori is not new to the gaming world and has played some 200 titles since she took the hobby some four decades ago. Her first screen was Cassette Vision, which she bought in 1981 after being fascinated by her children’s obsession with gaming. “I discovered that there was this fascinating thing in the world, “she said.
Hamako Mori says she has no intention of giving up video games, even if some of the finger movements are increasingly difficult.
Mori normally plays alone at home, but launched a YouTube channel in 2014 to interact with other gamers. She posts new videos shot by her grandson three or four times a month, attracting 300,000 subscribers and millions of views showcasing her gaming but also showing her everyday life.
