Fire Broke out in Uttrakhand Jungle/ Tughlakabad Slum – 2020 is getting worse day by day

In Uttarakhand the cycle of forest fires started again. With news of over 20 fire incidents in the forests over a period of four days, everyone’s concern has increased.

According to sources, the state, so far, has reported 46 wildfire incidences. In these wildfires, around 51.34 hectares of forest cover have gutted. The forest department has incurred a loss of Rs 1.32 lakh due to these forest fire instances this year.

The forest fires did not break out earlier, due to rain-snowfall at regular intervals. If we look at the departmental numbers, till May 18, there were 20 fire incidents in this season, which has now grown to 43. Looking at the scenario so far, the figure isn’t more surprising, but for the coming days, the challenge has increased.

Till now, two persons have died and one has sustained injuries while trying to escape wildfires.

Last year, the state had recorded 1,170 cases till May but this year, factors like intermittent rains and high moisture content in forests have limited the number of such instances.

Not only this, on Monday night there is a massive fire breaking out in the slums of Tughlakabad area of South-East Delhi, 1,500 Shanties Destroyed .

“We received information about a fire at about 1 a.m. in the slums in Tughlakabad. All police staff immediately reached here. It is said that about 1,000-1,200 shanties caught fire,” Rajendra Prasad Meena, Deputy Police Commissioner (DCP), South East, told ANI.

Firefighting operations are continuing, and no injuries have yet been confirmed.
