Shreya Ghoshal -Nightingale of Bollywood turns 36 Today

Shreya Ghoshal is one of the most popular female playback singers of this generation. She was born in Berhampore in West Bengal and raised in Rawatbhata, a small town in Rajasthan.

She learned music at the age of four and won the title of reality show Sa Re Ga Ma when she was sixteen.


Shreya Ghoshal debuted in Bollywood the same year with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s movie  Devdas, giving her voice to songs like Silsila Ye Chaahat Ka, Bairi Piya, Morey Piya, Chalak Chalak and Dola Re Dola.

She also won her first Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer for Dola Re and the National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer for Bairi Piya from the movie Devdas in 2002.

In 2007, her wax statue unveiled at India’s first Madame Tussauds museum.
“I am thrilled to be a part of history here at Madame Tussauds, and it is an honor to be featured among such talented stars, artists, historians, and renowned celebrities,” Shreya said in a statement.

She has received four National Film Awards, four Kerala State Film Awards, two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards, seven Filmfare Awards including six for Best Female Playback Singer and ten Filmfare Awards South.

Apart from playback singing, she has performed as a judge on several television reality shows and  She also performs in musical concerts around the world.
