Have you also felt the shaking of the earth? Well, not then you surely heard about the Nepal Earthquake? On January 7, 2025, the country of Nepal witnessed a quake that shook its core. Estimated at 7.1 degrees, the tremors were so disastrous that they shook up the cities and towns while leaving thousands injured and dead along with thousands without homes. 

Seated near a major city like Pokhara in central Nepal, the earthquakes could be felt as far off as northern India, Bhutan, and some parts of Tibet, reminding everyone once again how seismic the area was.

The Impact of the Earthquake

The earthquake struck at 3:45 AM local time, catching most people off guard as they slept. Preliminary reports suggest that hundreds of buildings, including homes, schools, and hospitals, were reduced to rubble. Ancient heritage sites in Pokhara and nearby areas, some of which date back centuries, have suffered significant damage, with many structures destroyed.

The human cost is devastating. Over 400 deaths have been confirmed, and thousands more are reported injured. More casualties are feared as rescue missions continue. Most of the isolated villages near the epicenter were cut off from the rest of the world after landslides and damaged roads blocked access to these areas, making rescue work even more complicated.
